Which perfume should I choose?

Perfume is a fluid that creates scent, in order to smell attractive. It consists of essential oils, flavors and a solvent that spreads the scent.

There are several names for perfumes, because it is always about their concentration and how much perfume oil the products contain.

Perfume is the purest and most concentrated scent that has the highest content of perfume oil. Due to its pure formula it is also the most expensive fragrance. The concentration of fragrance oils that comes in a solution of alcohol is the highest available, which is 15-20%, of which half of the fragrance consists of durable basic tones.

Eau De Parfum is a very well-known and popular fragrance that is also very durable. It contains 7-12% fragrance oils, so it's not as intense as it's perfectly clean. The abbreviation used for this is EDP.

Eau De Toilette is also a very well-known term, and seems more mild and light in its form. It contains 3-7% fragrance oils, resulting in a shorter shelf life. The abbreviation used for this is EDT.

Eau De Cologne has a mild concentration of 2-5% it seems extra mild in its appearance and can typically be fragranced for 2-3 hours after it is applied.

Eau De Fraiche is the absolute mildest fragrance form, with an ultra low concentration of only 1-3% fragrance oils. However, this form differs from all other fragrances, based on oils instead of alcohol. The advantage of using this is that it works mildly and nourishingly on the skin.

Perfume's History

Historians have produced and used fragrance for thousands of years, originally in Mesopotamia (current Middle East) and Egypt. In 2003 archaeologists found the oldest perfumes one has known so far. The perfumes were found in Cyprus and are over 4,000 years old. They were found in a factory where at least 60 distillers, hoppers and other equipment for the development of the product were found. At that time you used herbs and spices to develop scents, including anise, pine, coriander, bergamot, almond and parsley.

Only in the 14th century came perfumes to Europe. The first modern perfume was made of a mixture of fragrance oils and alcohol, and was manufactured in 1370 in Hungary.

Can perfume become too old?

There is no shelf life due to fragrances, but it is important to keep them properly so that you make the most of them. We tend to store them in the bathroom, but it is actually a very bad idea as they are exposed to fluctuating temperatures and high humidity.

Instead, it is always advisable to store them in a closet or drawer in the bedroom where they are not exposed to light too fluctuating temperatures.

It is very different how long they say they can last. It can vary from 1-8 years, depending on how you store them.

What can I do to make my perfume last longer?

Scents evolve from person to person, and therefore can smell different depending on skin type and personal scent.

You quickly turn to the fragrance you have because you can smell it all the time, but it does not mean that it does not work anymore, it's just you who is used to the smell.

There are three different fragrances in a perfume, the main air (top note), the heart air (midnote) and the base air (bottom note)

The main smell is the first impression you experience of the fragrance, the right headpipe arrives as soon as the alcohol from the tap water disappears, which it does quite quickly. The top note can smell for approx. 15 minutes after it is applied. It may seem a little strong compared to the other notes.

The heart of the air is the harmonic and the clearest it comes when the fragrance has reached its full strength and design. It's what makes the product seem harmonious and in balance. The middle note lasts for approx. 3 hours.

The basic scent is fabric extracts that provide the long and warm glow of the perfume. The bottom note lasts for up to 20 hours.
